Fanton Collabs With Capleton, Turbulence

Reggae artiste Fantan Mojah has collaborated with Turbulence and Capleton for a new effort titled Kingston Town. The song was produced by Young Veterans Music, and according to producer at the label Andrew Pennicott, the song will be a classic in the overseas market.

“We are not making fly-by- night music, and this song is proof that our productions are long-lasting. Young Veterans is a label that has always put pride in preserving the art of Jamaican music, and this is another production that does that in fine style,” Pennicott told The Gleaner.

Fantan Mojah has a strong fan base in Europe but has been relatively quiet on the local scene. The producer believes that this effort will take the artiste places once again.

“We have Turbulence and Capleton on the track, so you can’t deny that this trio is going to bring something special to the table. We are already getting a serious buzz in Europe, and from the look of things, the song will catch afire in Jamaica as well,” he said.

The song has already received over 14,000 views on YouTube.

Kingston Town is a social commentary with a strong message. We produced an authentic reggae beat for the single, and this one will go down well with reggae lovers,” Pennicott told The Gleaner.

Young Veterans Music has also been relatively quiet on the local scene in recent times, as the producer says that record sales have declined globally, and sales in Jamaica have been non-existent.

He said the label has taken a business decision to focus on the overseas market, where music lovers are more supportive of artistes and will spend money.

While the label is still based in Jamaica, Young Veterans has managed to use social media to its advantage and are solely relying on foreign consumers to remain relevant.

“We haven’t left Jamaica. Let’s get that straight. But if you look on the stats on iTunes, you will realise that music is not being sold in Jamaica, so we have to move along with the time and spread our wings. We used to sell vinyl records here at the label and they were simply not moving anymore, so we have gone digital.

“The persons who are buying our music are mainly overseas and they want real, solid content, and so we continue to produce content of the best quality and spread the music worldwide,” he said.

Kingston Town will be distributed by Zojak Worldwide.

Turbulence recently performed at Sting 2015, while Capleton is also promoting a new single titled Gimme Way.
